Mein Herz
(Sung text for setting by M. Zenger)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Mein Herz ist ein stiller Tempel,
Eine Domhall' düster und hehr,
Da knieen wie bleiche Beter
Die trüben Gedanken umher.

Es hauchen unsichtbare Orgeln
Gar wundertiefen Klang,
Es wallet von Geisterlippen
Ein dumpfer Schlummergesang.

Und unten in Grabeshallen,
Da schlafen im Sterbekleid
Die alten Tage der Liebe
Aus ferner, schöner Zeit.
