O Frühlingstag, so schön und hold,
Himmel und Erd' im Morgengold!
Von jedem Baum, von jedem Strauch
ein Frühlingsweh'n, ein Frühlingshauch.
Das Mägdlein steht, das Mägdlein sinnt;
wie hell zum Krug das Brünnlein rinnt!
Da haucht die Rose: Lieb' Schwesterlein,
willst du mich pflücken, ich schmücke dich fein!
Da flocht das Mägdlein die Ros' ins Haar,
da wurde sie schön nun ganz und gar
trotz nacktem Fuß und ärmlichem Kleid -
o du frohe, glückselige Jugendzeit!
