Du klarer Stern
 (Sung text for setting by A. Lindner)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Du klarer Stern, der meine Nacht
Mit freud'gem Kuss hinweggelacht,
Wer je dich sah, vergisst dich nicht;
Wo gingst du hin, du schönes Licht?
Ich suche dich auf Berg und Höh'n,
Denn ach, du warst so schön, so schön!

In deines Auges mildem Glanz
Verlor sich meine Seele ganz,
Und im Verlust ward mir erst klar,
Dass in mir Geist und Leben war;
Nun such' ich mich in dir, mein Stern,
Doch ach, du bist so fern, so fern.
