Die Verlass'ne
(Sung text for setting by F. Behr)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)

Am Brunnen hab' ich gestanden
Und wußte nicht wie mir war --
Das Wasser rann über den Eimer,
Und ich ward's nicht gewahr.

Ich sah in die dunkle Tiefe,
Es fielen die Thränen hinab --
Was weiß der tiefe Brunnen,
Daß ich geweinet hab'? --

Er hat mir Lieb' versprochen,
Und kommt doch nimmermehr. --
Ich trag' die Eimer zu heime,
Die Last ist gar zu schwer! --
