Die Schlummernde
 (Sung text for setting by K. Fetzer)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schlummre, schlummre sanft, o Schöne!
Weckt sie nicht, der Nachtigallen Töne!
Sterblich ist sie nicht: o nein!
Eine Göttinn muß sie seyn.
O ich will auf diesen Auen
Fromm ihr einen Altar bauen;
Opfernd Weihrauch auf ihn streun:
Nein! -- sie kann nicht sterblich seyn.
Aber wenn sie nun erwacht;
Freundlich diese Wange lacht --
Armes Herz! wie wird dirs gehn!
O wie schlummert sie so schön!
