Die Gärtnermaid
 (Sung text for setting by F. Kamm)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Nun blühn die Rosen wieder,
So wie vergangnes Jahr,
Der Sprosser schlägt im Flieder,
Vom Dache singt der Staar;
Im Glashaus und im Garten
Muß ich der Blumen warten,
So wie vergangnes Jahr.

Manch Kränzlein muß ich winden,
So wie vergangnes Jahr,
Manch Sträußlein muß ich binden
Für manches Liebesparsic: --
Das kann ich nur mit Schmerzen,
Das kann ich nicht von Herzen,
So wie vergangnes Jahr.

Ich lehne an der Linde,
So wie vergangnes Jahr
Ich winde, ach, und binde
Für Tanzsaal und Altar;
Für mich sind keine Kränze,
Mir blühen keine Lenze,
So wie vergangnes Jahr.

Ach wenn er kommen müßte,
So wie vergangnes Jahr,
Wo er so innig küßte
Mir Augen, Mund und Haar!
Ja, wenn er nicht geschieden
Wär' alles noch hienieden,
So wie vergangnes Jahr.

 ...

Die Myrten will ich gießen,
So wie vergangnes Jahr,
Damit sie blühn und sprießen
Für meine Todtenbahr'.
Im Frühling möcht ich gehen: --
Ich kann ihn nicht verstehen,
So wie vergangnes Jahr.
