Vorüber der Mai
(Sung text for setting by R. Franz)
 Matches original text
Language: German (Deutsch)
Vorüber der Mai, die selige Zeit,
Vorüber das sonnige Glück!
Und ach, von der blühenden Herrlichkeit
Was blieb Dir im Herzen zurück?

O zog aus den Düften, dem Sonnenschein,
Aus Blumen und Vogelgesang
Ins Herz Dir die junge, die Liebe hinein,
Die all diesen Jubel durchklang?

Und fühlst Du, ob außen das Glück vorbei,
Ob Blüt' auf Blüte entschwebt,
O fühlst Du, daß dennoch die Seele des Mai
Allewig in Deiner noch lebt?
