Morgentau
(Sung text for setting by M. Schütter)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Still das Sternengeläute ist verklungen.
Leise heben sich die Dämmerungen,
rings verschüttet liegt der nächtige Wein,
glänzt als Tau auf Gräser hingegossen,
in die zarten Kelche eingeschlossen,
dringt er tief in jedes Wesen ein,
will sich bis in seine Wurzeln senken,
es mit bronnenkühlem Blute tränken,
dass es Tag und Licht erleiden mag:
Strahle nun, du lichter, junger Tag!

Composition:

Set to music by Meinrad Schütter (1910 - 2006), "Morgentau", 1934

Text Authorship:

  • by Karl Stamm (1890 - 1919), appears in Dichtungen, in Wanderung und Lied
