Ich liebte es
(Sung text for setting by A. Reuss)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich liebte es, recht kalt zu scheinen,
Als rührte mich kein Kummer an.
Ich hasste es, wenn Männer weinen
Und war nie ein bewegter Mann!

Was heute mir im Busen dröhnte,
Nach Freiheit schrie und Tränen sehnte,
Das brach sich los mit einem Schlag,
Dass ich am Fensterpfosten lehnte
Den ganzen fürchterlichen Tag.

Composition:

Set to music by August Reuss (1871 - 1935), "Ich liebte es", op. 17 (Sieben Gedichte) no. 4 [ high voice and piano ]

Text Authorship:

  • by Ludwig Jacobowski (1868 - 1900), "Ich liebte es"
