Ou dans les grands bois, sur un lit de mousse...
Nous nous aimerons par le monde entier.

Nous nous aimerons éperdus, en rêve,
Ne comprenant rien aux bruits d'ici-bas,
Nous aimant toujours, ne nous parlant pas,
Sur un océan qui n'a point de grève.

Nous n'aborderons nulle part : toujours
Un bonheur tranquille, ineffable, immense ;
Et le vent des cieux, plus doux qu'un silence,
Nous murmurera des chansons d'amour.

in the tall, fresh, sweet grass, 
or deep in the forest on a bed of moss. 
We will love each other throughout the whole world. 

We will love each other lost, dreaming, 
not understanding any of the noise around us, 
loving each other forever, mute, 
on a shoreless sea. 

We will never come ashore. 
A quiet, ineffable, immense happiness, 
and the wind of heaven, softer than silence, 
will whisper love songs in our ears.
