Schmetterling
(Sung text for setting by P. Cornelius)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Wer hat's doch durchschauet,
Dem Schmetterling vertrauet,
Daß honigbethauet
Ein Blümchen Du mein Lieb?
Daß er dich umschwebet,
Um Dich im Fluge bebet
Und Honig erstrebet,
Der flatternde Dieb!

O, woll' ihn nicht haschen!
Vergönn' im Flug, im raschen,
Ihm flüchtiges Naschen,
Er küßt Dich ja nicht wund!
Dann prahlt wohl der Lose
Zur eifersüchtgen Rose,
Wie süß es sich kose
An deinem rothen Mund.

Und wenn er berauschet
Dann Lieb' mit Lieb' vertauschet,
Wo sehnsuchtsvoll lauschet
Manch Blümlein auf der Wies',
Dann mögest Du's leiden,
Daß ich mich bescheiden
Am Plätzchen mag weiden,
Das selig er verließ.
