   Hinsinge in die Nacht,
Mein Lied, das ich für Dich allein
   Gesungen und erdacht:

Da winken mir die Sterne zu,
   Da geht ein flüsternd Weh'n
Durch Baum und Strauch als hört' ich Dich
   Dort in der Stille geh'n!

Ich lausche hin -- da ist's ein Hauch,
   Der mir die Lippen schließt,
Als hättest Du mir plötzlich fort
   Vom Mund Dein Lied geküßt.
