I skovens høisale falken grå
 (Sung text for setting by A. Backer-Grøndahl)
 Matches original text
Language: Danish (Dansk)
I Skovens Højsale Falken grå
Tør bygge med trøstigt Mod;
Men jeg har ikke en kvist, hvorpå
Jeg hvile kunde min Fod.

Bag dunkle Buske, så lunt i Løn,
Der lægger sig Hjort og Hind;
Men jeg har ikke den Tue grøn,
Hvor jeg kunde svale min Kind.

Når Blomsten græder, i Luftens Strøm
Dens Smerte vorder så kort;
Til mig der når ingen ånde øm
For at veire min Tåre bort!
