Modersmaalet
(Sung text for setting by C. Sinding)
 See original
Language: Norwegian (Nynorsk)
Moder er eit heilagt ord,
hjartat kjært aa höyra,
leikar alle folk paa jord
sælt i hug og öyra.
Kvar, som moders namn hev lært,
vil og halda dyrt og kjært
moders ord og minne.

Modersmaal er beste arv,
mor oss kunde giva.
Medan mange Minne kvarv,
hennar ord vil liva:
fraa ho ved di vogga song,
til ho deg den sidste gong
döyande velsignad.

 ...

Kom daa, lat oss alle mann
reisa modersmaalet,
lyfta kvar so godt me kann,
slipa det som staalet!
Millom alle folk paa jord
dyre var dei modersord.
Lat og oss det sanna!
