Language: Danish (Dansk)
Hvor blev I røde Roser dog
Fra Ungdoms Dage glade?
I min Erindrings Psalmebog
Jeg giemmer Eders Blade.

Og skiøndt hvert Blad er gult og graat,
Som Farven af de Døde,
Den Sommerdag jeg mindes godt,
Da de var purpurrøde.

I deres fine Væv endnu
Jeg kiender hver en Aare.
Som før af Morgenduggen, nu
De fugtes af min Taare.

Composition:

Set to music by Thomas Linneman Laub (1852 - 1927), no title, published 1915 [ voice and piano ], from En Snes danske Viser (1915), no. 6, Leipzig & København, Wilhelm Hansen

Text Authorship:

  • by Adam Gottlob Oehlenschläger (1779 - 1850), "Hvor blev I røde Roser dog"
