Ob sie meiner wohl gedenkt
(Sung text for setting by H. Proch)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Ob sie meiner wohl gedenkt,
Nun von ihr ich losgerissen,
Ach, dieß Eine möcht' ich wissen:
Ob sie meiner noch gedenkt?!

Ob sie nach dem Pfad wohl blickt,
Den ich ging mit heißen Thränen,
Ob sie wohl mit leisem Sehnen
Nach dem öden Pfade blickt?

Ach, so zieh' in Gram versenkt
Weiter ich mit jedem Tage,
In dem Mund die bange Frage:
Ob sie meiner wohl gedenkt?!

Notes: Lang has two settings of this text, with different changes in wording relating to the repetitions, as follows:
Stanza 1, line 1, word 5 becomes "gedenket" in the repetition of both versions, but in the first version only, it is "gedenket" the first time as well.
Stanza 1, line 4, word 4 ("noch") is "wohl" the first time in the second setting (only), but "noch" in the repetition.
Stanza 3, line 4, word 4 ("noch") is "wohl" the first time in the first setting, but "noch" when the text is repeated; and in the second setting, it is "wohl" only when repeated.
