De tuin is treurend, Koel zinkt in de bloemen de regen. De zomer huivert Stil naar het eind van zijn leven. Goudgeel drupt blad na blad Neer van de hoge acaciaboom. Zomer glimlacht verbaasd en mat Naar de stervende blaad'rendroom. Talmend nog bij de rozen Blijft hij staan, rust zoekt hij, moe. Langzaam doet hij de Zwaar geworden ogen toe.
