Schlummerlied
(Sung text for setting by F. Kücken)
 See original
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT DUT ENG FRE ITA POR
Alles still in süßer Ruh,
Drum, mein Kind, so schlaf auch du!
Draußen säuselt nur der Wind:
Su, susu! schlaf ein, mein Kind!

Schließe deine Äugelein,
Laß sie wie zwei Knospen sein!
Morgen, wenn die Sonn' erglüht,
Sind sie wie die Blum' erblüht.

Und die Blümlein schau' ich an,
Und die Äuglein küss' ich dann,
Und der Mutter Herz vergißt,
Daß es draußen Frühling ist.

Note: in many older editions, the spelling of the word "Äugelein" becomes "Aeugelein", but as can be seen in how "über" becomes "Ueber" when capitalized, this is due to the printing process and not to rules of orthography, so we use "Äugelein".

See also this text that makes use of the second and third stanzas.

Composition:

Set to music by Friedrich Wilhelm Kücken (1810 - 1882), "Schlummerlied", op. 14 no. 1, published 1843 [ voice and guitar or piano ], Leipzig, Whistling

Text Authorship:

  • by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben (1798 - 1874), no title, appears in Kinderlieder, in Wiegenlieder I, no. 1

Ninnananna
(Sung text translation for setting by F. Kücken)
 See original
Language: Italian (Italiano)  after the German (Deutsch)
    Tutto tace in dolce pace,
bimbo mio, dormi anche tu.
Là sussurra il venticello,
dormi, dormi, bimbo bello.

    Tieni chiusi quegli occhietti
che saran come boccioli
e col sole, col calore
sbocceranno come un fiore.

    E guardando i fiorellini,
su quegli occhi ti dò baci,
e la mamma lo sa già
che la primavera è qua.
