by Heinrich Leuthold (1827 - 1879)

Abschied
Language: German (Deutsch)
Die Blume bricht des Nordwinds Hauch,
Der Schmerz an meinem Herzen frißt;
Ob glänzender dein Elend auch
Ich weiß, daß du doch elend bist.

Mein Herz, das heiß für dich gepocht,
Birgt einen Schatz von reinem Gold;
Du hätt'st zu heben ihn vermocht,
Du aber hast es nicht gewollt.

Wir könnten beide glücklich sein;
Du weißt es wohl und willst es nicht.
O mög' es nimmer dich gereu'n!
Leb' wohl! dies sei dein letzt' Gedicht.

Confirmed with Gedichte von Heinrich Leuthold, Dritte vermehrte Auflage, Frauenfeld, Verlag von J. Huber, 1884, p. 46.
