by Peter Johann Willatzen (1824 - 1898)

Schlaf' ein, mein Herz, schlaf' endlich...
Language: German (Deutsch)
Schlaf' ein, mein Herz, schlaf' endlich ein,
Laß dich in Schlummer singen!
Ein Lied aus alter Zeit allein
Mag dir noch Ruhe bringen.

Dies Lied, das einst die Mutter sang,
Hallt wieder heimlicherweise
Mit ihrer lieben Stimme Klang
Mir durch die Seele leise:

"Ach, Well' und Wind verrauscht, mein Kind,
Die Sterne, sie verblassen;
Wenn treulos dir einst Menschen sind,
Gott wird dich nicht verlassen!"
