February twilight
Language: English
Available translation(s): FRE GER
I stood beside a hill
Smooth with new-laid snow,
A single star looked out
From the cold evening glow.
There was no other creature
That saw what I could see
I stood and watched the evening star
As long as it watched me.

Dämmrung im Februar
Language: German (Deutsch)  after the English
An einem Hügel stand ich,
er war frisch eingeschneit;
am Abendhimmel stand ein Stern
in kalter Einsamkeit.
Kein weit'res Wesen um mich,
das sah, was mir gewahr:
Ich stand und schaut' den Abendstern
solang' er auf mich sah.
