Hoffnung
Language: German (Deutsch)
O Hoffnung, milde Blume,
Täglich begieß' ich dich;
Du gabst zum Eigenthume
Dem weinenden Herzen dich.

Blüthen und Blätter, immer
Streben sie himmelwärts;
Nicht brauchst du der Sonne Schimmer,
Du brauchst ein menschliches Herz!

Ihr prangenden Blumen im Garten,
Was hilft mir der bunte Schein?
Pflegen will ich und warten
Der lieben Blume allein!

Confirmed with Des Mädchens Wunderhorn: Perlenkranz aus Deutschlands Lyrischen Dichtern, Zehnte Auflage, Leipzig, Fr. Voigt's Buchhandlung, 1869, p. 116.
