Hört Ihr dort drüben die Klänge, So sanft, so klagend, so trüb? Hört Ihr sie, die Gesänge Von früh verlorener Lieb'? Es singt unter Rebengeländen Ein Mädchen das traurige Lied; Wie schnell die Herzen sich wenden, Wie bald die Liebe verblüht. Der Knab ist weit von dem Rheine, Er hat ihr gebrochen die Treu -- Und ich -- ich lausche beim Scheine Des Mondes der Melodei.
