by André Chanet (c1820 - c1886), as André Chaten

Le réveil
Language: French (Français)
Tu dors à l'heure où tout s'éveille,
L'aube et la fleur,
Je sais un chant doux à l'oreille
Plus doux au cœur.

Déjà l'aube blanchit, ma belle,
Ton oreiller,
Ne vas-tu pas bientôt comme elle
Te réveiller ?

Là-bas, sur la lande fleurie.
Le genêt ouvre sa fleur d'or ;
Mais celle que mon âme envie,
Est mille fois plus belle encor !

Mais non! pendant une heure encore,
Ferme tes yeux,
Tes yeux feraient pâlir l'aurore,
Tes yeux si bleus !

Je t'aime, et le bonheur suprême,
Ce serait toi...
Mais j'ai peur du bonheur lui-même,
Quand je te voi !
