by Christoph August Tiedge (1752 - 1841)

Ich bin das Mädchen der Freude
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich bin das Mädchen der Freude,
froh tanz' ich durch's Leben dahin;
ich blühe, wie Blumen der Weide,
unschuldig und leicht ist mein Sinn.

Mir lacht das liebliche Leben,
von Thränen nur selten gestört.
Die Sittsamkeit mag es vergehen,
wenn Adelheid oft sie nicht hört!

Mit ihr hat's immer noch Weile:
drum will ich indessen mich freun;
sie wandelt bedachtsam, ich eile:
so hol' ich sie früh genug ein.
