Divin sommeil !
(Sung text for setting by P. Viardot-García)
 Matches base text
Language: French (Français)
Or Jésus sommeillait
Étendu sur un lange,
La Vierge le veillait
Et de son aile un ange
Lui faisait un rideau
Qui planait sur sa tête.
A ses pieds un agneau
Douce et timide bête,
Attendait confidant
Que son maître s’éveille.
Et Jésus souriant
De sa lèvre vermeille,
Ouvrit enfin le yeux
Qu’il tourna vers sa mère,
Et la nuit dans les cieux
Fit place à la lumière.
