Wo immer ich auch bin.

Und löst in lauter Melodie
Das schicksalschwere Sein . . .
O daß mir nicht das Lied entflieh'--
Die Finken fang ich ein!

Wherever I may be.

And into pure melody it dissolves
My fate-laden existence . . .
Oh, so that the song may not leave me --
I shall capture the finches!
