by Georg Scheurlin (1802 - 1872)

Nachtgefühl
Language: German (Deutsch)
Auf den Wassern Abendglut,
  Hauch des Friedens über ihr; --
Was versöhnend webt und ruht,
  Ruh't nun auch und webt in dir.

Jedes Hoffen, jedes Bild,
  Das der kühle Tag verneint,
Nun in Dämmrung liegt es mild,
  Friedenselig dir vereint.

Und so trage den Verlust
  Um den Segen schönrer Nacht;
Auch den Schmerz in deiner Brust
  Heilt sie sicher, heilt ihn sacht .

Confirmed with Gedichte von Georg Scheurlin, Druck der Brügel'schen Officin in Ansbach, 1851, page 37.
