Ich seh' mein Lieb' im Traume, Leuchtend und thränenklar; Im weißen Mondesstrahle Glänzet ihr dunkles Haar. Wie fromm der wehende Schleier Die liebe Stirn umgiebt! Ihr süßen, weinenden Augen, Ich fühle, daß ihr mich liebt! Fahr wohl, so spricht sie traurig In klagender Melodie; Ich rufe sie laut beim Namen, Ich sinke vor ihr auf's Knie. Ich küsse ihr bebend die Hände, -- Da bin ich aufgewacht . . . Ein Schluchzen, -- Todtenstille, -- Und rings die eisige Nacht.
