Jeg er som et ensomt Lys i en Lygte,
ingen tager sig af det. Stormen vil slukke
alt det varme, ud i Mörkret vil det flygte
bort for den raakolde Storms hvinende Sukke.

Er der ingen der kan bringe Varme,
et godt, kaerligt Hjertes Varme, ingen?
Og mit Hjerte skal fryse og holde op med at slaa.

Er der ingen gode Öjne
og ingen aabne Arme
og intet Sind, som kan forstaa,
at det at vaere ene i lange, lange Tider
er vaerre end at dö.
