Où, fuyant ensemble au fond de ma tour,
Nous tournions tous deux les feuilles jaunies
   D'un livre d'amour ? 

Au livre d'amour quand il vins à lire 
Ce brûlant récit du premier baiser, 
Ta bouche en tromblant chercha mon sourire 
  Et vint s'y poser... 

Il fut tout-puissant, le brûlant passage, 
Car il me souvient que, dans ce beau jour, 
Nous sommes restés sans tourner la page 
  Du livre d'amour.

Ne ramassons plus ces roses fanées... 
Hélas ! il n'est pas de pire douleur 
Que le souvenir des belles années 
  Aux jours de malheur.
