Ich bin ein lustiger Musikant
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Ich bin ein lustiger Musikant,
Und nimmer übler Laune;
Und blase in dem Königsheer
Die mächtige Posaune.

Ich bin ein lust'ger Musikant,
Und blase hinterm Zaune
Im Bivouak, so wohlgemuth
Wie auf dem Marsch, Posaune.

Ich bin ein lust'ger Musikant,
Lieb' Mädel, schwarz und braune,
Und alle Mädel sind mir gut;
Weil ich ihr Lob posaune.

Und fall' ich auch im Schlachtgewühl
Beim Donner der Karthaunen,
So werd' ich oben lauter noch
„Des Herren Lob“ posaunen.

Und wird am jüngsten Tage einst
Wohl mancher übler Laune,
Ich bleib' ein lustiger Musikant!
Und blase die Posaune.

The merry musician
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
I am a merry musician,
And never in a bad mood;
And in the King’s army I blow
The mighty trumpet.

I am a merry musician,
And behind the fence
In the bivouac I blow the trumpet
As contentedly as upon the march.

I am a merry musician;
I love maidens, black-haired and brown-haired ones,
And all the maidens are favourably disposed to me,
Because I trumpet forth their praises.

And should I fall in the fray
To the thunder of the cannons,
Then even louder shall I on high
Trumpet forth "the praise of the Lord."

And should upon the judgement day
Many a person fall into a bad mood,
I remain a merry musician!
And blow the trumpet.
