by Christian Morgenstern (1871 - 1914)

Palmström
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  FRE
Palmström steht an einem Teiche
und entfaltet groß ein rotes Taschentuch:
Auf dem Tuch ist eine Eiche
dargestellt sowie ein Mensch mit einem Buch.

Palmström wagt nicht, sich hineinzuschneuzen. -
Er gehört zu jenen Käuzen,
die oft unvermittelt-nackt
Ehrfurcht vor dem Schönen packt.

Zärtlich faltet er zusammen,
was er eben erst entbreitet.
Und kein Fühlender wird ihn verdammen,
weil er ungeschneuzt entschreitet.
