by Christian Morgenstern (1871 - 1914)

Westöstlich
Language: German (Deutsch)
Als er dies v. Korf erzählt,
fühlt sich dieser leicht gequält;
denn für ihn ist Selbstverstehung,
daß man mit der Erdumdrehung
schlafen müsse, mit den Pfosten
seines Körpers strikt nach Osten.
Und so scherzt er kaustisch-köstlich:
"Nein, mein Diwan bleibt - westöstlich!"

Text Authorship:

  • by Christian Morgenstern (1871 - 1914), appears in Palmström, first published 1910 [author's text not yet checked against a primary source]
