Klag' deine Noth
Language: German (Deutsch)
Available translation(s): ENG
Klag' deine Noth
Dem lieben Gott,
Wenn Alle dich verlassen,
Und Keiner hört,
Was dich verzehrt,
Und deinen Schmerz kann fassen!
Eh du's gesagt,
Eh du's geklagt,
Hat er es schon erfahren:
Mehr als die Hut
Der Mutter thut,
Will er dein Haupt bewahren.
Er hat die Welt
Auf Lieb gestellt;
So faßt er auch die Seinen;
Nach Nacht und Leid
Und Traurigkeit
Muß dir sein Antlitz scheinen.
Sein ist die Zeit,
Die Ewigkeit,
Dein Leben und dein Sterben;
Und wir sind hier
Zu seiner Zier,
Und seines Reiches Erben.
So herrlich denkt,
Der uns geschenkt
In seinem Sohne Alles,
Und nicht gedacht
In Vatermacht
Des tiefen Sündenfalles.
Von Anbeginn
War das sein Sinn,
Und dennoch kannst du zagen?
So hier, wie dort
Gilt nur sein Wort,
Und darauf sollst du's wagen!
Was dein, ist sein,
Was sein, ist dein:
O Meeresstrom von Liebe!
Wie da auch nur
Noch eine Spur
Von Noth und Jammer bliebe!

Tell your sorrow
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Tell your sorrow
To your dear Lord,
When all have forsaken you,
And no one hears
What consumes you,
And [no one] can comprehend your pain!
Before you have said it,
Before you have uttered your complaint,
He already knows of it:
More than the protection
Of a mother can,
He shall protect you.
He has set the world
To function in love;
Thus He also holds His own;
After night and suffering
And sadness,
His face must shine for you.
Time is His --
Eternity,
Your life and your death;
And we are here
To glorify Him
And we are the heirs of His kingdom.
Thus gloriously thinks
He, who in His Son
Has given us everything,
And in His fatherly might
Does not regard
The deep Fall of Man.
From the beginning of time
That was His intention,
And yet you can still be apprehensive?
Here as there,
Only His Word prevails,
And in light of that you should go forward in courage!
What is yours is His,
What is His is yours:
Oh floodwaters of love!
How could there then
Remain even a trace
Of misery and sorrow?
