Tout bruit s'est calmé dans la nuit profonde.

Crains-tu le tuteur brutal et jaloux,
Qui te fait baisser ta noire mantille ?
Pauvre Bartholo, grilles et veroux,
Peuvent-ils garder cœur de jeune fille ?

La brise emporta le bruit d'un baiser,
Qui fit taire alors la douce Mandore ;
L'étoile du soir vint à s'effacer,
Et l'amant heureux murmurait encore.
