nous avons des rosiers âgés et florifères, 
entre les flaques d’eau, les pigeons baigneurs, 
les althaeas taillés en pelotes et les balisiers. 
Ils ne sont morts ni des guerres, ni des gelées.

Au-dessous de ma fenêtre, 
ces vieux rosiers prodigieux n’ont jamais manqué de fleurir, 
de refleurir, 
et de fleurir une fois encore avant novembre.

Roses du Palais-Royal, belles sans tache ni tare, 
Roses sur tiges, 
le bouton clos comme un œuf, puis inopinément ouvertes, 
Roses qu’éveille au centre de Paris 
l’arc-en-ciel prisonnier du jet d’eau,

Je cherche en quel éden cueillir les fleurs qui vous vaillent…
