Stiller fliedertrunkner Sommerabend
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  ENG
Stiller fliedertrunkner Sommerabend,
Steigest hernieder du in ruhiger Pracht

Rufen die heimlich trunkenen Wünsche mir her.

Quiet, lilac‑drunk summer evening
Language: English  after the German (Deutsch)
Quiet, lilac-drunk summer evening,
You descend in quiet splendour,
Bringing me yearning; scent-laden and refreshing
There follows the singing night, resounding of May.

Quietly the breezes waft, and the trees and bushes
Softly move their crowns; yearningly and heavily
They nod toward you, fructifying night!
For me they call forth secret, intoxicating wishes.
