La colombe

La colombe à mort est blessée,
Mes plombs au cœur ont fait leur trou,
Le sang rougit le joli cou,
L'aile soyeuse pend, cassée.

Quand, d'un bond, je l'eus ramassée, 
Maudissant l'adresse du coup,
Contre mes lèvres, comme un fou,
En pleurant je la tins pressée.

Et le pauvre oiseau des amours
Me dit, entr'ouvrant ses yeux lourds :
« J'avais ainsi rêvé ma tombe,

Près d'une bouche et sur un sein.
Sèche tes pleurs, cher assassin,
Grâce à toi, je meurs en colombe ! »
