by Franz Adolf Friedrich von Schober (1796 - 1882)

Augenblicke in Elysium
Language: German (Deutsch)
Our translations:  CAT
Vor der in Ehrfurcht all mein Wesen kniet,
Jetzt schweb' hernieder, Urbild ew'ger Schöne!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Franz von Schober. Stuttgart und Tübingen. J. G. Cotta'scher Verlag. 1842, page 174; and with Gedichte von Franz von Schober. Zweite, vermehrte Auflage. Leipzig Verlagsbuchhandlung von J. J. Weber. 1865, page 228.

1 Schober (manuscript): "auch"
2 Schober (manuscript): "Bin ich es"
3 Schober (1865 edition): "Hippokrene"
4 Schober (manuscript): "So schwindet"

Note: Schober's 1865 edition contains the remark "Von Franz Schubert in Musik gesetzt." Schubert's setting is lost, however. Schubert received all poems from Schober in handwritten form. Some of these manuscripts, including this sonnet, are kept in the Vienna City Library.
