Note: This is the first print of the postil in German language by Aegidius Albertinus, based on the Gospel according to St. John, 6:53-58. He translated it from the French Gospel pericope of Pierre de Besse (1567-1639). The text has been reprinted and copied many times up to the 19th century. Originally it was devised for the Mass on Tuesday of the Holy Week, later it was taken for the Feast of Corpus Christi.
