Dans ma chair, dans mon âme, oui, frappe tour à tour,
Sans pitié ni relâche, ô douleur ! ô vautour !
Plus tu me fais souffrir, plus je sens mon amour !

Mets en lambeaux ce cœur, où son image habite ;
Qu'à chacun de tes coups ce cœur batte plus vite,
Et qu'en tous ses débris le même amour palpite !

Je ne crains que l'oubli, je ne crains que la mort ;
Une moindre douleur me serait un remords ;
Fais moi souffrir autant que j'aime ! Encor !
