Das Wiesengras ist lang und weich, 
die Sonne flammt und glüht,
um rote Disteln zittert die Luft,
die ganze Wiese blüht.
 
Wie Wachen, stark und scharf gewehrt
die Disteln [uns umblühn]¹,
weich ist und lang das Wiesengras,
und deine Lippen glühn.
 
Deine glühenden Lippen zittern leicht,
wie Blumenblätter im Wind,
deine Lippen, die viel roter noch
wie die roten Blumen sind.
 
Ich sehe die roten Blumen nicht,
ich sehe dich nur an,
und küße deinen roten Mund
so lange ich küßen kann.

Niittyheinä on pitkää ja pehmeää,
aurinko liekehtii ja hehkuu,
ilma väreilee punaisten ohdakkeiden ympärillä,
koko niitty kukoistaa.
 
Kuin vartiossa, vahvoissa puolustusasmissa
kukkivat ohdakkeet ympärillämme,
niityn ruoho on pehmeää ja pitkää,
ja sinun huulesi hehkuvat.
 
Sinun hehkuvat huulesi vapisevat kevyesti,
kuin kukkien terälehdet tuulessa,
sinun huulesi, jotka ovat vieläkin punaisemmat
kuin nuo punaiset kukkaset.
 
En minä niitä punaisia kukkasia näekään,
minä katselen vain sinua,
