by Johann Heinrich Voss (1751 - 1826)

Trinklied
Language: German (Deutsch)
  Trinkt, [Freunde]1, der Reben
  Entflammten Saft?
  Er würzet das Leben
  Mit Freud' und Kraft!
Der Wassertrinker verzweifelt,
Wo keck, vom Weine beträufelt,
Des Zechenden Seele beginnt und schafft!

  Schaut heute, wie blasser
  Der Mond da schleicht!
  Was, trank er auch Wasser?
  Es zehrt und bleicht!
An Aug' und Wange verkläret
Ist, wer die Flasche geleeret;
Voll Genius taumelt er, kühn und leicht!

  Wie quacken und unken
  Die Frösch' im Sumpf?
  Wer Wasser getrunken,
  Der röchelt dumpf!
Mit Wein die Herzen erweitert!
Dann tönt die Stimme geläutert,
Und gellt dem Lyäus Jo Triumph!
