Tiédeur du vieux foyer, aux premiers soirs d'hiver, 
Dans le charme soudain rappris de la famille ; 
Lumière de la lampe innocente, qui brille 
Sur la page encor blanche où vont fleurir les vers... 

Ô toute la douceur, ô toute la bonté 
De l'heure calme où meurt la colère et l'envie ; 
Ô charme étrange et simple, ô vague de la vie 
Où l'ennui lentement devient de la beauté...
