by August Ferdinand Meyer (1811 - 1894), as Friedrich Brunold

Herzliebste, gute Nacht!
Language: German (Deutsch)
Ich schreite still für mich allein
hier in der dunklen Nacht;
ob sie auch jetzt noch denket mein,
ob sie auch jetzt noch wacht?

Da tritt der Mond so still herfür,
die Sternlein leuchten hell;
grüßt meinen Schatz recht schön von mir,
auf, Boten, eilet schnell!

Sie betet wohl im Kämmerlein,
hat auch wohl mein gedacht:
ich schreite still für mich allein,
Herzliebste, gute Nacht!
