Я знала давно, что я осенняя, 
Что сердцу светлей, когда сад огнист, 
И все безоглядней, [все забвеннее]1 
Слетает, сгорая, осенний лист. 
Уж осень своей игрой червонною 
Давно позлатила печаль мою, 
Мне любы цветы — цветы спаленные 
И таянье гор в голубом плену. 
Блаженна страна, на смерть венчанная, 
Согласное сердце дрожит, как нить. 
Бездонная высь и даль туманная, 
Как сладко не знать... как легко не быть...
