by Adolf von Wilbrandt (Wilbrand) (1837 - 1911)

Lied des Alten
Language: German (Deutsch)
Bald vergilbt das grüne Gras,
rote Rosen werden blass,
und dein Flöten und Schalmei´n,
Hirte du,
Hirte, wird vergessen sein.

Über Nacht die Blüte fällt,
Übers Jahr dein braunes Zelt;
Nachtigallenlied verhallt,
Und dein Haar,
Und dein Haar erbleicht wie bald!

Deine Früchte höhlt der Wurm,
Deine Linde bricht der Sturm,
Deine Liebste freit der Tod;
Doch er lässt,
Doch er lässt dir deine Not!

Confirmed with Gedichte von Adolf Wilbrandt, Wien, 1874.
