by Anacreon (c582BCE - c485BCE)
Translation by Rémy Belleau (1527/8 - 1577)

Qu'il boit mieux vieillard que les jeunes
Language: French (Français)  after the Greek (Ελληνικά)
Je suis vieil, et si boy mieux
Que la gaillarde jeunesse :
J'ay, si je suis en liesse
Pour sceptre un flacon vineux,
Le tyrse rien ne vaut,
Et si quelcun veut s'esbatre,
Aille guerrier pour combatre
Dans un camp, il ne m'en chaut.
Donne-moy de ce vin doux,
Garçon, dedans ce grand verre,
A fin que sautelant j'eire
Comme un Silen devant tous.

Confirmed with Anacréon et les Poèmes anacréontiques, ed. by Achille Delboulle, Havre, Lemale et Cie, 1891, page 116.
