by Semyon Yakovlevich Nadson (1862 - 1887)

Ja dolgo sčast'ja ždal – i luč ego...
Language: Russian (Русский)
Ja dolgo sčast'ja ždal – i luč ego želannyj
Blesnul mne v sumerkach: ja sčastliv i ljubim;
K čemu ž na rubeže zemli obetovannoj
Ostanovilsja ja, kak robkij piligrim?
Za mnoj – gluchaja noč' i gody ispytanij,
Peredo mnoj – vesna, i laska, i privet,
A ja... mne točno žal' umčavšichsja stradanij,
I s grust'ju ja smotrju minuvšemu vosled...

Ne nazyvaj menja bezumnym, dorogaja,
Ne govori, čto ja solgal pered toboj;
Net, ja ljublju tebja, kak mal'čik, otdavaja
Vsju dušu, vse mečty, vsju žizn' – tebe odnoj.
No otgoloski groz nedavnego nenast'ja,
Kak golos sovesti, tverdjat duše moej:
«Est' dni, kogda tak pošl venok ljubvi i sčast'ja
I tak prekrasen tern stradan'ja za ljudej!..»
